Shelter Movers Job Opportunity
Shelter Movers, a volunteer-powered charitable organization that provides moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse, proudly announces the opening of its newest chapter in Regina. This expansion comes as part of Shelter Movers' ongoing commitment to extending its vital services to regions where the need is greatest.
Shelter Movers Regina will receive referrals from local agencies, such as women’s shelters and transition homes, to move survivors in unmarked moving vehicles to their new homes with the option of free storage in space donated by local storage facilities. A short intake process helps to identify the urgency of the risk posed to the client and the volume of belongings to move, after which the client’s information is passed to a Move Coordinator who assembles the volunteers, reserves trucks and vans, and contacts any other needed professionals, e.g. private security personnel, police, language interpreters, pet fostering, etc.
Shelter Movers Regina will offer a proven service model that effectively coordinates local volunteer movers to empower families during their transition to lives free of violence. The Regina Chapter plans to begin serving clients in June of this year and, in preparation, is working to spread the word about their services throughout the community.
